Thermodynamic properties of water-β-cyclodextrin-dodecylsurfactant ternary systems

Densities, heat capacities and conductivities of water-surfactant-β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) ternary systems were determined at 25°C. The surfactants studied were sodium dodecylsulfate (NaDS) and dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB). From conductivity data, apparent critical micelle concentrations (cmc*) and degree of ionization of micelles were obtained at a fixed β-CD concentration (mCD). From the cmc* value and that in water (cmc) the stoichiometry of the surfactant-β-CD complex was calculated. Spectrum emitted by a trapped electron

We study the behaviour of a homonuclear molecule driven by an intense laser field. Newton's laws are used to describe the dynamics of nuclei while the quantal approach is reserved to the study of the electron. It is observed that the nuclei can oscillate or dissociate according to the degree of ionization of the molecule. In case of low ionization rate it is shown that great amount of information can be obtained by using the simplified approaches of fixed nuclei and of two-state approximation. Under suitable conditions the electron wave function spends a long time localized around one nucleus. The harmonic generation of the molecule is studied and seen to contain even harmonics.

Abstract Joint solutions of oppositely charged weak polyelectrolytes are considerably less studied than their strong counterparts; as a result, their thermodynamic understanding is still unsatisfactory. This shortcoming hampers the development of a general picture about the physical properties of these mixtures, which further hampers their use to design new materials.
